I was recently invited to participate in the Deloitte US Courageous Principals program.
The program marks the first venture by Deloitte into the space of training principals and other education administrators. Deloitte has chosen to target principals in order to maximize the impact of their training efforts on the highest number of students.
Hosted at their incredible 700,000 square foot facility north of Dallas in Westlake known as Deloitte University, the entire Courageous Principals experience is a five-star experience. Excellent accommodations, outstanding service, and state of the art meeting rooms provide the backdrop for the two and a half day training. The training facilitators are grouped into triads which include Deloitte training staff, retired partners and current educators leading groups comprised of 25-30 participants each. The entire group of attendees in my particular session included principals from California, Texas, Tennessee, Michigan, and Louisiana.
The program begins with a discussion on business chemistry and different styles and how they interact with each other. Subsequent sessions include activities on The Art of Inquiry, Making the Most of the Moments that Matter, Handling Difficult Conversations, and Managing Resistance to Change.
Program benefits included the quality training and follow-up toolkit, networking with educators from across the country and an immersion into the service minded culture of Deloitte.
