Story of #TXED

Early in May of 2012, Carrie Ross (@msrossenglish) formulated the idea of using the #txed hashtag and creating a weekly chat using #txed.  After linking up with and selecting Tra Hall (tra_hall) and Troy Mooney (@troymooney) as the co-moderators, Wednesday night at 830 Central was selected as the official chat time.

#Txed held its first chat on May 23, 2012.  The goal of #txed is to be the primary connection point for Texas Educator’s Personal Learning Networks.

On June 13, 2012, at the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals Conference (@tassp1), #txed was held from the Austin Downtown Hilton and included the first ever face to face meeting of many of the participants.

On July 25, 2012 #txed trended for the first time on Twitter.

The participation of #txed increased and Michael Ogg (@principalogg) was added as the first of many newer moderators to continue the weekly chats.

As of 2015, #txed continues to serve as a connection point for Texas educators and others around the nation.
